Michelin Guide Honors Top European Hotels with Prestigious 'Key' Awards
The latest selection of the Michelin Guide recognizes 2,832 hotels globally, with 18 new Three Key properties highlighted for offering exceptional stays, including eight in Europe.
The Michelin Guide has unveiled its 2026 Global Michelin Keys Selection, recognizing 2,832 hotels worldwide for providing unparalleled experiences, akin to its renowned restaurant 'stars.' This year, 18 new properties have been awarded the highest distinction, the Three Key, with eight of these celebrated European establishments.
Among the notable European recipients is Airelles Palladio in Venice, Italy, which also received the Opening of the Year Award. Located on the Giudecca Canal, this historic property, favored by Venetian nobility since the 15th century, offers a blend of timeless elegance and modern comfort with lagoon views.
In Florence, Italy, Collegio alla Querce, part of the Auberge Collection, earned Three Key status. This hotel features quiet interior gardens, views of the Duomo di Firenze and Tuscan hills, 83 rooms, an original chapel and theatre, and multiple dining and bar options.
Italy's Amalfi Coast is represented by Borgo Santandrea, which was promoted to Three Key status. Perched on a cliff overlooking Conca dei Marini, the hotel offers 31 rooms and 21 suites, some with private infinity pools, alongside three restaurants and a private beach.
Splendido, A Belmond Hotel in Portofino, Italy, a long-standing favorite among discerning travelers since its opening in 1902, also made the list. This former 16th-century Benedictine monastery now boasts 53 rooms, an outdoor pool, and a Dior Spa.
France's French Riviera features Château de la Chèvre d'Or in Èze, situated atop a hilltop with views of the Mediterranean coastline. This property includes hidden rooms within the medieval village and a Michelin-starred restaurant.
Another French highlight is Le Couvent des Minimes in Mane, a countryside hotel known for its immaculate gardens and serene atmosphere, offering a path to contentment and wellbeing.
In Switzerland, Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne, located on the shores of Lake Geneva, was recognized for its majestic Belle Époque interiors, Guerlain Spa, and top-notch service.
Rounding out the European list is the Kulm Hotel in St. Moritz, Switzerland. Founded nearly 165 years ago, this luxurious Alpine resort is credited with playing a vital role in the establishment of regional tourism and features a spa, seven restaurants, and a golf course.
