Maura Higgins has moved out of her Essex mansion while it undergoes extensive renovations, citing the 'too much dust' as a primary reason. The decision coincides with her upcoming move to Los Angeles to compete in the 35th season of "Dancing With The Stars."
Higgins purchased the £1.25 million property in October 2024 and has since embarked on a significant renovation project, which includes installing a new bathroom, sauna, and a personal "hairdrobe."
"I actually moved out while the renovations are happening, because I was really struggling with all the dust, and with how much I'm flying and travelling back and forth for work," Higgins shared with fans during a Q&A. She added that she needed a space where she could unpack and repack easily without living in a construction zone. The star plans to check on the progress of the renovations soon and anticipates a significant transformation of the home.
The move to Los Angeles is slated for September, as "Dancing With The Stars" is set to begin. Higgins was announced as one of the first stars to join the upcoming season in April. This opportunity follows her growing presence in the United States, including an appearance on the U.S. version of "The Traitors," which has garnered her a substantial American fan base.
Higgins, who rose to fame on "Love Island" in 2019, has been actively expanding her career in the U.S. She has been linked with various American shows and brands, with sources suggesting significant opportunities are available to her. Her U.S. television debut on "The Traitors" has reportedly led to increased interest from beauty brands, with talks of her becoming the face of a major cosmetic company. Discussions are also reportedly underway for a reality series documenting her rise in America and potential acting roles.
Her career trajectory in the U.S. also includes serving as a social media presenter for "Love Island US" and "Love Island Games," as well as hosting "Love Island: Aftersun." In 2020, she participated in "Dancing On Ice." Higgins signed with a public relations agency that specializes in career growth in the U.S. and a major U.S. talent agency, Creative Artists Agency. Her increasing profile in the States was further highlighted by her attendance at the Golden Globes in Los Angeles.
Her previous home in the UK was reportedly raided, prompting Higgins to ensure her new property is located within a secure, gated development to enhance privacy and security.
