Actress Margaret Qualley embraced a bold footwear choice at the London premiere of her film "The Dog Stars," stepping out in a pair of Chanel "barefoot sandals." The striking design, part of Matthieu Blazy's debut Resort 2027 collection for the luxury house, features minimal leather straps and a small heel cap, leaving the majority of the foot exposed.
Qualley, 31, daughter of actress Andie MacDowell, navigated Leicester Square in the unconventional sandals. The shoes, which have not yet been confirmed for public release, have generated significant interest amid the heightened attention surrounding Chanel since Blazy assumed the role of artistic director. This surge in popularity, sometimes referred to as 'Blazymania,' has coincided with a 5 percent increase in Chanel's operating profits, reaching £3.4 billion.
The fashion industry has a history of avant-garde footwear, including Balenciaga's platform Crocs and Golden Goose's intentionally distressed sneakers. Qualley's background as a ballet dancer may have prepared her for the demands of such unique footwear.
Qualley, who has been a Chanel ambassador since she was 16, complemented the daring sandals with a long, black cap-sleeved Chanel gown adorned with fluttering paillettes. Her attendance at the premiere comes shortly after she announced her separation from record producer Jack Antonoff.
