Singer Lorde paused her headline set at Lollapalooza in Chicago on Thursday evening multiple times as fans in the crowd passed out due to the high temperatures. The event, in its opening night, took place in Grant Park.

During one interruption, the New Zealand artist alerted security to a fan needing assistance near the barricade, according to reports. She waited until first responders reached the individual before continuing her performance. Witnesses reported that Lorde stopped her show at least three times throughout the night as concertgoers appeared to struggle with the heat.

"You look hot from up here," Lorde told the audience early in her performance, acknowledging the warm conditions. Despite these interruptions, the 29-year-old performed hits including "Royals," "Green Light," "Supercut," and "Ribs." She also made a surprise appearance with Charli XCX to perform their song "Girl, So Confusing."

This was Lorde's return to the Lollapalooza festival, having previously performed there in 2014. She also appeared in 2017, but that set was cut short due to severe weather.

Lollapalooza runs through Sunday in Grant Park, with other scheduled headliners including Charli XCX, The Smashing Pumpkins, Olivia Dean, Jennie, Tate McRae, and The xx.
