Lily James graced the red carpet at the Toronto Film Festival on Monday for the premiere of "Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo," opting for a classic little black dress and a bold red lip. The 37-year-old actress struck a series of poses at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Canada, where she was also seen tossing her brunette hair for photographers.
"Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo" is described as a standalone, international sequel to the franchise, following Abel Ferrara's 1992 original and Werner Herzog's 2009 film "Port of Call New Orleans." The plot centers on Detective Yabuki, a corrupt, gambling-addicted Tokyo police officer, who reluctantly partners with an enigmatic American FBI agent, played by James, to locate the missing daughter of a powerful U.S. politician. Their investigation draws them into a violent conflict involving the Yakuza underworld.
The film is slated for release in Japan on October 23, with a UK release date yet to be announced.
Later in the evening, James attended a cocktail party hosted at RBC House, where she was seen with actors Takashi Miike and Orlando Bloom.
In other recent news, James has reportedly signed on to star in the Amazon Studios horror thriller "Seasons," directed by Drew Hancock. Her upcoming projects also include the action thriller "Cliffhanger," the mystery drama "Harmonia," and the animated comedy "The Angry Birds Movie 3."
