Lenny Kravitz's team has refuted claims that the musician was a passenger on a Learjet that crashed in Florida. The rumors gained traction on social media platform X after a pilot, identified as Emily Shelton, posted about a planned flight with Kravitz.
"Honored to be flying the one and only Lenny Kravitz from [Austin-Bergstrom International Airport] to [North Eleuthera Airport, Bahamas] tomorrow. Looking forward to having him on board," a screenshot of Shelton's post stated, according to reports. The post also mentioned playing Kravitz's song "It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over" in the cockpit.
The circulating claims suggested Shelton was the pilot of the doomed jet, which crashed Sunday near Palm Beach, killing all nine people on board. However, Kravitz's representative, Carleen Donovan, stated, "The reports are untrue and incorrect."
Emily Shelton herself addressed the misinformation in a TikTok video, clarifying that she was alive and not involved in the crash. "I would like to respectfully clarify I was not. I ask that people please stop speculating and spreading misinformation on this tragedy and be respectful of those involved," she said. "My heart goes out to all those lost and affected."
The Learjet 60 aircraft reportedly crashed "like a missile" into a mobile home park in South Florida. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis described the scene as "cataclysmic."
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the nine victims killed in the crash.
