Katie Price has announced a significant shift in her approach to cosmetic surgery, stating she will no longer undergo procedures such as Brazilian butt lifts (BBLs) or receive further filler in her bottom. The 48-year-old former glamour model cited fears of mortality as the reason for this change.
Speaking on the Andrew Gold Heretics podcast, Price detailed her decision to halt certain cosmetic interventions. "I so want to get my implants [in my bottom]. I've booked it in then haven't because so many people said, 'Kate, don't do implants in your bottom.' So, I haven't. I have actually listened because for that one people die," she stated. While she has had filler in her bottom previously, Price confirmed she would not be having it again due to the associated risks. "I've had filler in it, but the filler does not last me the same as my lips," she explained. "I don't know if it's my high metabolism but it never lasts on me. So, I've had the filler in the bum, but I've stopped it now because I've heard of so many people dying doing it that I'm not even doing that now because I'm like, nah."
Price also touched upon the broader risks of cosmetic surgery, noting the potential for infection and the body's rejection of implants. She observed that social media often presents an idealized view of results, omitting the less appealing recovery stages. "But people don't realise you've got that bit in between that isn't nice and you just got to trust the process," she said. "But every time you're under the knife, anything can go wrong. Like it doesn't mean to say if you do your face it's going to heal well. There's always a risk with everything."
This announcement comes as Price reflected on the financial and procedural extent of her past cosmetic work. She estimated having undergone around 30 to 40 surgeries over the years, spending approximately £40,000 of her own money, despite receiving many free treatments due to her fame. She noted that while she has often pursued procedures against her family's advice, she has recently begun to heed surgeons' recommendations more closely to avoid an unnatural appearance. "I do listen to surgeons now because if every surgeon did what I wanted, I'd look more like a freak of nature. I don't want to look freaky!"
Price also spoke candidly about her struggles with body dysmorphia, acknowledging the condition after years of denial. She described a persistent dissatisfaction with her appearance and a continuous urge to alter it. "I look in the mirror as I do now and think I don't like what I see and I'm going to change something," she admitted. "I don't know what I get out of it, I need to know that I'm happy when I look in the mirror and I'm so not."
