“Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma,” the latest film from director Jane Schoenbrun, is now available in theaters nationwide. The film, which premiered to critical acclaim at the Cannes Film Festival in May, stars Hannah Einbinder as Kris, a filmmaker developing a new horror film.

As Kris delves into her work, she becomes fixated on Billy, portrayed by Gillian Anderson, who was the "final girl" in the original franchise film. The movie has been praised for its subversion of horror tropes and its meta-commentary on the genre.

"I’m working in these mediums that are clearly indebted to commercial power structures," Schoenbrun told Vulture. "And the more I do it, the more I’m like, That’s the core tension. I love television. I love American movies. And I also want to destroy them. I see them as prisons as much as they’re spaces of emancipation."

While the film has begun its theatrical run, its streaming availability is limited. "Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma" is distributed by MUBI and is not expected to be available on platforms like Netflix or Hulu in the near future. Its eventual streaming home will be MUBI.

Following its theatrical release, the film will also be available for purchase or rental on Prime Video. Amazon Prime subscribers can also access MUBI as an add-on for $14.99 per month, with a free trial currently available.

The exact streaming date on MUBI has not yet been announced. However, based on MUBI's release patterns for other films, such as "The History of Sound" and "The Substance," "Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma" is anticipated to arrive on the platform in approximately one to two months, potentially in early October 2026. The film began its theatrical release on Friday, August 7, and is expected to play in theaters for at least a month.
