Halle Berry has found unwavering support in her fiancé, Van Hunt, throughout her challenging child custody battle with ex-husband Olivier Martinez. A source close to Berry told Page Six that Hunt has been her "rock" during this "incredibly difficult and stressful time."
"He’s been by her side throughout the whole custody battle and restraining order situation," the insider added. "He’s been incredibly supportive through everything, and having someone like him to lean on has made a big difference for her."
The couple was recently seen heading to lunch in West Hollywood, just days after a judge denied Martinez's request for a permanent domestic violence restraining order against Berry.
Hunt, a musician, has been a steadfast presence for Berry, even testifying on her behalf during court proceedings. Berry's daughter, Nahla, whom she shares with ex Gabriel Aubry, also testified in support of her mother.
Martinez had accused Berry of choking their son, Maceo, during an altercation in September. A temporary restraining order was initially granted, giving Martinez primary custody and limiting Berry's time with their son. However, on October 29, a judge dissolved the temporary order and denied Martinez's request to make it permanent.
Despite this ruling, Martinez retained primary physical custody of Maceo, and Berry's parenting time remains restricted to daytime visits. Berry's legal team had sought to dismiss Martinez's restraining order request, restore their previous 50-50 custody arrangement, and gain sole legal custody for her.
Berry's attorney stated that the actress remains focused on her family's well-being following the court's decision.
Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez were married in 2013 and announced their split in 2015. Their divorce was finalized in 2023 after a prolonged legal dispute. Berry and Hunt have been romantically linked since 2020 and are now engaged.
