Billy Ray Cyrus's ex-wife, Firerose, has publicly detailed her tumultuous seven-month marriage to the country star, describing their relationship as a "warzone" and issuing a warning to his current girlfriend, Elizabeth Hurley.
Firerose, whose real name is Johanna Rose Hodge, told The Sun that "narcissists never change." She recounted instances of alleged verbal abuse, stating, "he would be screaming vile insults and verbally abusing me and calling me the most horrible things I’ve ever heard." Firerose claimed that after their 2023 marriage, she felt as though she was "walking on eggshells" and that Cyrus prevented her from seeing friends and owning a car. She also described attempting to "mould herself" into someone she believed he wanted.
Cyrus has previously denied Firerose's allegations, claiming in court documents that he was the one subjected to verbal abuse. The couple's split in May 2024 was contentious, with both parties leveling accusations of emotional and verbal abuse. Court documents indicate Firerose received no financial settlement from the divorce, which was finalized in August.
Cyrus's representatives have not yet responded to requests for comment. This interview marks the latest in a series of public statements from Firerose regarding their relationship, which ended in May 2024. The singer stated that she wished "every person who is being ensnared by a narcissist could save themselves, because I wouldn’t wish that on anybody."
Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose initially connected over ten years ago on the set of "Hannah Montana," where Cyrus's daughter Miley starred. They reconnected during the COVID-19 pandemic. Cyrus filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct. He also sought a restraining order to prevent unauthorized use of his credit cards and accounts.
In a statement released through his lawyers, Cyrus expressed relief at moving past the marriage, calling it a "web of lies that put me in physical danger" and "a matter of the heart."
