Danny Hatchard, known for his role as Lee Carter in the BBC soap opera EastEnders, has announced that he and his fiancée, Kerry Scouler, are expecting their first child. The couple shared the news on Instagram, revealing they are expecting a baby girl.
Scouler posted a series of photos and a video, including a photobooth snap of the couple holding an ultrasound image and a gender reveal cake. "And somewhere along the way, our love became someone’s whole life," she captioned the announcement. Hatchard playfully commented, "Only gone and got her up the duff duff duff duff duff duff duff duff duff…" Fans have shared their congratulations on social media.
The pregnancy announcement comes a month after Hatchard, 35, proposed to Scouler during a romantic boat trip in Amsterdam. Scouler shared photos of the engagement, showing off her new diamond ring, with the caption, "You & me forever? Don't mind if 'I do'."
Hatchard and Scouler first connected in 2020 after Scouler messaged him about his EastEnders character. They publicly confirmed their relationship in December of that year during a holiday in Cyprus. The couple have largely kept their relationship private but have shared glimpses of their life together, including comedy sketches on a joint social media account.
Hatchard originally joined EastEnders 12 years ago as the eldest son of Mick and Linda Carter. After serving in the British Army, he returned to the soap in 2019. His most recent appearance as Lee was in 2024. Hatchard recently confirmed his return to the show, describing it as his "most exciting return yet" and promising "explosive scenes."
