Chris Pratt has shared an account of his early days in Hollywood, revealing he was once living in a van in Hawaii with only $60 to his name before securing his first acting role.
Pratt, known for his roles in "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Parks and Recreation," detailed his experience on Instagram, reflecting on his time waiting tables at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. He recalled that his career trajectory changed when director Rae Dawn Chong visited the restaurant where he worked.
"Naturally, I went up to her table and said, ‘Hey, you’re a movie star! What are you doing here?'" Pratt wrote. He explained that when Chong asked if he could act, he responded affirmatively, leading to her request for his phone number. As he did not have a phone, he provided a friend's number instead.
Following this encounter, Pratt received a call from Chong and was given the script for the 2000s horror-comedy "Cursed Part 3." He stated he read the entire 120-page script multiple times before his audition. His character in the film was named Devon.
Pratt was offered the role and informed he would travel to Los Angeles for production. He described the moment as life-changing, realizing his dream of becoming an actor was within reach.
With an estimated net worth now in the hundreds of millions, Pratt expressed gratitude to Chong for the opportunity. He noted that "Cursed Part 3" was a "low-budget horror comedy that opened the door to Hollywood" for him, emphasizing that "Everybody starts somewhere, and this is where it all began for me."
Since his breakthrough, Pratt has starred in major film franchises, including Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Jurassic World," as well as the television series "The Terminal List." He is married to Katherine Schwarzenegger, and they have three children together. The couple also has significant real estate holdings, including multiple properties in the Los Angeles area.
