Chloe Madeley marked her 39th birthday with an amicable family lunch attended by her ex-husband James Haskell and their three-year-old daughter, Bodhi. The gathering, described as friendly, occurred two years after the couple's separation.
Madeley, daughter of television personalities Richard and Judy, shared photos of the occasion, which included an outdoor meal where she was seen with Haskell and their daughter. She also posted a separate image of her parents enjoying wine.
The fitness influencer reflected on her past marriage, previously describing their breakup as the "worst imaginable" and detailing the "trauma and toxicity" involved. However, she noted that she and Haskell have successfully transitioned to a co-parenting relationship and have developed a friendship.
"Me and my ex husband, as much as we had the worst breakup imaginable when our marriage fell apart, we've managed to co-parent respectfully throughout all the trauma and toxicity, and it was a lot," Madeley said on the "No Parental Guidance" podcast. She expressed surprise at their ability to move past the difficult period and form a new bond.
One of the contributing factors to their separation, Madeley explained, was her desire to shield their daughter from marital conflict. "One of the reasons I left my marriage was because it was so bad, it was becoming harder and harder to keep it from her and she was only a baby," she stated.
The family lunch comes after Haskell's appearance on the dating show "Celebs Go Dating," where his mother, Susie Haskell, made critical comments about Madeley and speculated on the reasons for the couple's split. In response, Madeley appeared to address the remarks in a cryptic social media post about dealing with "other people's cr**."
Haskell acknowledged his mother's comments prior to the show's premiere, calling her an "absolute loose cannon" and expressing concern about her potentially upsetting his ex-wife. Susie Haskell, during her television appearance, suggested that the couple had issues due to competing personalities. James Haskell stated that Madeley encouraged him to participate in the dating series, emphasizing their continued friendship and transparency.
Madeley and Haskell were married in 2018 and welcomed their daughter in 2022. They announced their separation in 2023 after five years of marriage. Haskell has reportedly dated since the split, including a brief relationship with reality television personality Sara McLean.
