Urth Caffé, a popular cafe chain originating in Southern California, has announced plans to expand internationally with a new location in London.
The new outpost is slated to open in London's Covent Garden in early 2027. The company revealed the expansion via an Instagram post, stating that London is calling and Urth Caffé has answered, viewing the brand as a fitting addition to the "neighborhood of new and old traditions."
Founded by Jilla and Shallom Berkman, Urth Caffé first opened in Manhattan Beach in 1991 before relocating to its larger Melrose Avenue location in 1994. The chain became a staple in Los Angeles known for its organic coffees, boba teas, salads, and desserts. The brand gained further recognition through appearances on the HBO series "Entourage," with its West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica locations becoming popular spots for people-watching.

The expansion to London follows Urth Caffé's existing international presence through a franchisee in the Middle East, with locations in Dubai and Saudi Arabia. Current U.S. locations include several in the Los Angeles area, Pasadena, Laguna Beach, Orange, Hawthorne, as well as at LAX and the Wynn Las Vegas.
The announcement of the London location has elicited varied responses from some customers. While the company expressed excitement about the new venture, some social media commenters voiced skepticism about the brand's international appeal and product quality. Criticisms included remarks about the food not being good and suggestions that the company should instead focus on improving quality and service at its existing U.S. locations.
