Construction for Therme Manchester, a new £500 million water wonderland, has reached a significant milestone with the erection of the first of 12 tower cranes. The resort, designed as the UK's first urban wellbeing resort, is on track for completion by late 2028.
Expected to draw 1.7 million visitors in its inaugural year, Therme Manchester aims to provide an immersive experience that blends water, nature, and relaxation. The attraction will span an area equivalent to 28 football pitches and will feature over 25 waterslides, a wave pool, and an outdoor beach. Indoor temperatures will be maintained at a tropical 33C (91F).
The resort's offerings are centered around three core pillars: play, relax, and restore. Visitors can anticipate a variety of activities, including next-generation waterslides and wave pools, alongside facilities for unwinding such as saunas, steam rooms, and botanical gardens. An adults-only area will be dedicated to rest and rejuvenation, offering spa therapies and health consultations.
Therme Manchester will also include a range of dining options, with choices available for families and adults. The company has stated that pricing information is not yet released but plans to offer a variety of ticket options to suit different budgets.
The company's Instagram update highlighted the erection of the first tower crane as a key phase in bringing the vision to life. The ongoing construction involves heavy machinery and the erection of large structures, indicating progress towards the resort's opening.
