Dame Mary Perkins and her husband, Doug Perkins, the co-founders of Specsavers, are anticipating a £12 million dividend payment as the company's profits have surged. The couple jointly own the optician chain's Guernsey-based parent company, which they established in 1984.
In the 12 months concluding February, the UK's largest High Street optician reported a 26.6 percent increase in profits, reaching £430 million. Despite what the company described as a "challenging macro-economic landscape," turnover grew by 7 percent to £4.26 billion, according to financial filings at Companies House. Specsavers operates 950 stores across Britain and also provides home-visit services and audiology centers.
The company, however, has cautioned about "ongoing cost pressures." These include rising expenses for wages, utilities, and suppliers, as well as increased regulatory and funding demands in key markets. Specsavers indicated that these factors could potentially affect consumer behavior, partner profitability, and the overall business performance.
Despite these projected challenges, the company has so far managed to absorb increased costs without passing them on to customers. This strategy has allowed Specsavers to continue supporting its clientele during economically difficult times.
