Panera Bread's avocado, egg white, and spinach sandwich has been named the highest-rated fast-food breakfast item in a recent Consumer Reports ranking. The sandwich, served on a sprouted grain bagel flat, scored an overall 75, with a four out of five for nutrition and a perfect five out of five for sensory attributes.

This popular item features egg whites, tomato slices, spinach, aged white cheddar cheese, and avocado. It contains 410 calories and 21 grams of protein. Panera Bread secured three of the top 10 spots in the ranking, with its steel-cut oatmeal with strawberries and pecans and another oatmeal variety with almonds, quinoa, and honey also earning high praise.

Other chains also appeared on the list. McDonald's Egg White Delight ranked 13th with a score of 66, and its Egg McMuffin received a score of 64. Jamba Juice's oatmeal with strawberries and brown sugar crumble placed fourth. Dunkin' and Starbucks also had menu items represented, including Starbucks' red pepper sous vide egg white bites and Dunkin's whole grain oatmeal.

Despite the positive ranking, some customers on Reddit expressed mixed opinions. Criticisms included the perceived amount of avocado in the sandwich and a perceived decline in overall quality over time. However, many users also shared positive sentiments, with one stating, "Ah, yes, my favorite breakfast sandwich," and another hoping the item would never be removed from the menu.
