Red Lobster has reintroduced its Endless Shrimp promotion, a move that comes after the seafood chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The company stated that the decision to bring back the popular, all-you-can-eat shrimp offer was driven by persistent customer demand.
"They continued telling us they missed it, showed up when we brought it back this spring and kept asking for more after that run ended," a Red Lobster spokesperson told Fox News Digital. "We weren’t going to walk away from something they love simply because the previous operating model did not work."
A Refined Approach to a Popular Offer
The promotion, which has historically been cited by analysts as a factor in the company's financial difficulties, is now being offered for a limited time. Participating locations began offering the current Endless Shrimp deal on Aug. 17. Guests can select from five flavors, including a new garlic-bread-crusted shrimp, and mix and match them throughout their meal.
Red Lobster emphasized that the promotion has been rebuilt with stronger operational and financial discipline. "The previous model did not work, so we did not repeat it," the company said. "We rebuilt Endless Shrimp around much stronger operational and financial discipline, including better forecasting, kitchen flow, menu structure and restaurant support."
The company's strategy now focuses on making the Endless Shrimp offer work as a dine-in experience with market-specific pricing. "The new standard is simple: Endless Shrimp has to work for the guest, the restaurant team and the business," Red Lobster stated. The spring run of the promotion reportedly met and exceeded expectations in terms of guest satisfaction and team support.
Path to Recovery
Red Lobster closed numerous locations nationwide in May 2024, shortly before filing for bankruptcy. CEO Damola Adamolekun has spoken about his ambition to orchestrate "the greatest comeback in the history of the restaurant industry." His plan involves streamlining operations, closing underperforming restaurants, and increasing customer engagement by tapping into nostalgia.
The company has identified lessons learned from previous promotions, acknowledging that "guest demand alone is not enough." The revamped Endless Shrimp promotion is presented as an example of Red Lobster's new operational approach, which prioritizes guest satisfaction backed by rigorous financial and operational discipline.
