The Raley’s Companies, a West Coast grocery chain founded 91 years ago, is closing several stores in California and Nevada as part of a regional downsizing initiative. The company cited a variety of factors, including local market conditions and the long-term financial sustainability of these locations, for the decision to let leases expire on underperforming stores.

This move follows previous closures, with Raley's having already closed stores in Roseville in January and Antioch in April after opting not to renew their leases. A Nob Hill Foods, a subsidiary of Raley's, also closed in Mountain View in May, reportedly impacting 50 employees. The company stated that impacted employees would be offered the option to transfer to other locations.

The following Raley's and Nob Hill Foods locations are scheduled to close by June 2027:

  • 2400 Sand Creek Road
  • 2505 Mountain City Highway
  • 157 North McDowell Boulevard in Petaluma
  • 15710 Los Gatos Boulevard (Nob Hill Foods)

Despite these closures, Raley's plans to open a new Raley's O-N-E Market in Madera in the spring of 2027. The company currently operates over 100 stores under various banners, including Raley’s, Nob Hill Foods, Bel Air, and Bashas'.

Raley's is not the only grocery retailer experiencing such changes. Grocery Outlet announced plans in March to close 36 underperforming stores nationwide as part of an optimization strategy. Additionally, O’Brien’s Market recently closed its last two remaining stores in central California after a 49-year run.
