Paris's River Seine is undergoing a transformation, shedding its past reputation for dirtiness and emerging as a chic waterfront destination reminiscent of the French Riviera. The river, which flows past iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Musée d'Orsay, is now home to exclusive beach clubs, floating bars, and designated swimming areas, offering a new way for Parisians and tourists to enjoy the city.

Annette K, a premium barge moored on the Seine at Port de Javel Bas, exemplifies this shift. Launched three years ago, the venue features a 50-meter outdoor swimming pool, a spa, an open-air cafe, and a solarium with views of the city. Described by a local hairdresser as feeling like a "beach club" that is "so peaceful," Annette K offers a luxurious riverside experience. Day passes for the deckchairs are available for €10 (£8.57) with pool entry at €32 (£27.40), and a monthly membership costs €200 (£171). A spokesperson for Annette K stated their aim was to provide "something much more varied with sport, healthcare and a festive place."

This upscale offering contrasts with Paris Plages, the city's annual free summer event that creates temporary beaches along the Seine, the Bassin de la Villette, and Canal Saint-Martin, featuring public swimming pools and relaxation areas.

For those seeking an exclusive waterfront experience beyond the city center, Polpo Plage in Levallois-Perret offers a beach club atmosphere. This seasonal extension of the seafood restaurant Polpo Brasserie serves cocktails and homemade waffles, with guests able to relax on sun loungers. During the summer season, the area is transformed into Polpo Nord for the winter.

Another establishment, Cozy, located near the ornate Pont Alexandre III, bills itself as an "intimate and exclusive Parisian rooftop." Open daily, it features DJ sets, outdoor seating, and drinks by the water.

Permit-free boats are also available for hire, allowing visitors to cruise along the Seine and experience the rejuvenated riverbanks from the water.
