Mimi's Cafe, a diner chain that originated in California, has closed its Folsom location after 48 years of operation. The closure on August 16 marks the latest in a series of restaurant shutdowns for the brand, which has shed 106 locations since being acquired in 2013.

According to the Folsom Times, a message on the restaurant's window thanked patrons for their loyalty and expressed hope that they would visit another Mimi's location soon. The parent company, Groupe Le Duff, a France-based conglomerate, has not provided an official reason for the closure.

With the Folsom closure, Mimi's Cafe now operates 39 restaurants across 10 states. The chain's presence in Northern California has been notably reduced, with only one location remaining in Elk Grove following closures in Arden Arcade, Roseville, and South Natomas. Despite these reductions, Mimi's still maintains 24 locations within California.

Following the Folsom restaurant's closure, its contents are being offered in an online auction, with bids starting at $5 and concluding on August 26. The sale includes dining room furnishings, such as booth sections, tables, chairs, and outdoor benches, as well as kitchen equipment including grills, ovens, walk-in coolers, and refrigerators.

Mimi's Cafe, known for its all-day breakfasts, muffins, and croissants, was founded near Disneyland nearly five decades ago. The chain's downsizing reflects a broader trend impacting casual dining establishments.
