Manchester Airport Group (MAG) has announced that a data breach has resulted in the access of personal information belonging to approximately 8.7 million customers. The firm detected the cyberattack on Tuesday and has since taken steps to prevent further unauthorized access.

MAG stated that it has "immediately contained the risk" and is collaborating with specialist advisors and relevant authorities to address the incident and protect its customers and systems. The company has also notified the affected customers.

The compromised data includes email addresses obtained from passengers who signed up for the airport's on-site Wi-Fi service. More detailed information, such as vehicle registration numbers, was accessed from individuals who had booked car parking spaces, arranged lounge access, or used fast-track services.

Customers are being advised to remain vigilant for suspicious emails, text messages, or phone calls and to avoid opening attachments from unknown contacts. MAG has identified the perpetrators of the hack and has informed the appropriate authorities.
