Lotus of Siam, a Thai restaurant celebrated by food critics, is closing its location at the Red Rock Casino in Las Vegas after approximately four years. The closure, officially described as a mutual agreement between the resort and the restaurant's operators, has fueled speculation among local observers due to the relatively short lease term.

The restaurant originally opened in the late 1990s in a modest location within Las Vegas's Commercial Center. Two other locations, one at the original site and another near the airport on E. Flamingo Road, will remain open. The Red Rock outpost, which debuted in 2022, was operated by Bua Food Group, then comprised of Penny Chutima, daughter of co-founder Saipin Chutima, and a partner, Lou Abin.

According to reports from the Las Vegas Journal-Review, the Red Rock location has been marred by food and service problems since its inception. These issues are reportedly connected to a contentious legal dispute within the Chutima family, which remains active.

Court documents have surfaced detailing alleged disruptive activities at the Red Rock property, including parties with DJs and controversial menu additions, which the family reportedly felt undermined the brand of the original restaurants. The disputes ultimately led to Red Rock Casino's decision to end the tenancy not only of Lotus of Siam but also of two other restaurants managed by Bua Food Group on the property: Naxos Taverna and the Red Rock Oyster Bar.

A statement from Station Casinos, which operates Red Rock Casino, confirmed that the tenancies for Lotus of Siam, Naxos Taverna, and the Red Rock Oyster Bar would end on October 29. Station Casinos indicated it would take over the operation of the Oyster Bar and would announce future plans for the remaining spaces. When reached for comment, Station Casinos referred back to their initial statement.
