A modern Malibu residence originally commissioned by NBA legend Kevin Garnett, which he never occupied, has been relisted for $48 million following a four-year renovation. The property, located at 27715 Pacific Coast Highway, spans 6.74 acres and features extensive ocean views.
Garnett purchased the property for $6.4 million in 2003 while playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He sold the unfinished estate in 2021 for $16 million to Ando Hacopian of Hacopian Design & Development Group. According to reports, Garnett alleged that Hacopian failed to close the deal and subsequently filed lawsuits against Hacopian and the involved title and escrow companies.
Vladimir Valsky, CEO of VIG Private Lending, acquired the property in 2022. Valsky then engaged architect Roger Kurath of Design 21 to oversee a comprehensive renovation and redesign. The four-year project included gutting and renovating the structure to meet current building codes and updating the interior design, furnishings, and art curation.
The 11,000-square-foot home includes six bedrooms and is designed as a year-round residence. It features a large infinity pool, a chef's kitchen, a home theater, a gym, and a separate yoga or art studio. The estate also includes a triple lot, with one parcel currently vacant and suitable for a second home or compound.
The property is situated in an area known for its high concentration of wealthy residents. In 2023, Beyoncé and Jay-Z purchased an estate on the same stretch of Pacific Coast Highway for a record $200 million, while in 2021, Marc Andreessen bought a nearby estate for $177 million. The listing agents are Tomer Fridman and Aaron Kirman of Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California, and Chris Cortazzo of Compass.
