Netflix does not currently offer a free trial for its streaming service. However, there are several ways to access Netflix content for free in 2026 through various providers.
DIRECTV Offer
DIRECTV is providing a limited-time offer that includes 12 months of Netflix at no additional cost. This promotion, which began in late August 2026 and concludes on November 17, requires subscribers to sign up for one of DIRECTV's Genre Packs, such as MyEntertainment, MySports, or MyNews. To qualify for the free year of Netflix, customers must also add a Gemini Device to their genre pack subscription. After a five-day free trial, the subscription costs will apply, and the free Netflix access will remain active as long as the subscriber maintains their DIRECTV service.
Subscription Tiers and Pricing
Netflix offers three subscription plans. The Standard with Ads plan costs $8.99 per month and allows streaming on two devices simultaneously, with offline downloads available on two devices. Content streams in 1080p (Full HD). The Standard plan, priced similarly but without ads, includes access to a wider selection of content, as some titles are exclusive to this tier. The Premium plan offers 4K (Ultra HD) + HDR streaming on up to four devices, offline downloads on six devices, and the option to add up to two extra members living outside the primary household.
Netflix does not provide a student discount.
