Consumers in the UK are raising concerns that artificial intelligence (AI) used to generate property listings constitutes false advertising, the BBC reported. Buyers are reporting that AI-generated images often create unrealistic expectations of properties, leading to significant disappointment when they view the homes in person.

One house-hunter described the experience as akin to "going to buy a new Mercedes but ending up with an old Skoda." This sentiment highlights a perceived gap between the digitally enhanced presentation of properties and their actual condition or appearance. The use of AI in real estate marketing aims to showcase a property's potential, often by virtually staging rooms or improving lighting and aesthetics. However, critics argue that when these enhancements go beyond minor touch-ups and create a fundamentally different impression of the property, it crosses the line into deception.
