Diane Keaton’s Los Angeles residence, a property she spent eight years designing with inspiration from Pinterest, has sold for $18 million. This final sale price represents a discount of more than $10 million from the $28.9 million initially sought for the home in March. The identity of the new owner has not yet been disclosed.
Keaton, who passed away in October at age 79, purchased the property in 2011 for $4.7 million. The actress, born Diane Hall, was known for her interest in real estate, renovating and flipping homes as a secondary pursuit. In her 2017 book, "The House that Pinterest Built," she described this particular house as the only one she envisioned living in long-term and is believed to be the last home she renovated.
The 9,200-square-foot home features rustic-chic interiors, including beamed ceilings, expansive windows designed for indoor-outdoor living, and skylights in the country-style kitchen. The property's exterior is red brick, and the interior includes a unique circular space adorned with the words of Gerald Stern’s poem "Lucky Life."
Keaton first listed the property in early 2025 for $28.9 million. The price was subsequently lowered to $27.5 million before being taken off the market weeks before her death. The home reappeared in December asking $26.9 million, and by June of the current year, the price was further reduced to $22.9 million before its eventual sale.
Records indicate that Josh Flagg of Compass represented the seller, which appears to be a trust connected to Keaton's two adopted children. Emil Alexander Schneeman of Berkshire Hathaway represented the buyer.
