Costco has expanded its delivery service to include some of its most popular customizable items, such as sheet cakes, round cakes, and party platters. The move allows shoppers to order these bakery and deli selections through Instacart for same-day delivery, offering a significant convenience for party planning and events.
Previously, customers had to visit a warehouse location and fill out paper forms to order these made-to-order items. This new offering, announced by Instacart, Costco's primary delivery partner, marks a substantial enhancement to Costco's digital capabilities for these fan-favorite products. The change comes after Costco retired a decades-old ordering system earlier this year.
Customers can now select cake size, shape, and flavor from a catalog, choose from a variety of designs, and add personalized messages of up to 30 characters. The available platters include sandwich, shrimp, and fruit options.
Instacart and Costco have a longstanding partnership that began in 2017 with the introduction of same-day delivery. The collaboration has since expanded to include Costco's e-commerce platforms. Ryan Hamburger, chief commercial officer at Instacart, stated in a release that the companies are proud to make these items available for delivery for the first time, providing members with more options for celebrations.
