Cheez-Its and Club crackers are introducing a new packaging format designed to keep snacks fresh and crunchy for longer, adopting a resealable canister similar to the iconic design used by Pringles.
This shift moves away from the traditional plastic-bag-in-a-box approach, aiming to solve the common problem of crackers losing their crispness after opening. The new tall, cylindrical containers allow for resealing after snacking, which the company states is primarily to preserve freshness and enhance portability.
Mars Inc., the owner of Cheez-It, Club crackers, and Pringles, indicated that this packaging update responds to consumer desires for convenient, on-the-go snack options. "Easy, on-the-go snacking is a top need for our fans," a company representative stated. "By bringing these popular Cheez-It and Club crackers to this grab-and-go format, we're giving people a simple way to enjoy their favorites anywhere, anytime."
Three varieties are receiving the new packaging: Cheez-It Original, Cheez-It Grooves Minis Sharp White Cheddar, and Club Minis Original. These new containers are currently rolling out to retailers nationwide with a suggested retail price of $2.69.
This marks the first time Cheez-It and Club crackers have been offered in this type of resealable canister. Prior to this innovation, consumers employed various methods to maintain the freshness of their snacks, with some resorting to storing cracker boxes in refrigerators to preserve crispness.
In related news, Pringles is also introducing a new line of thicker, sturdier, and wavier potato chips called Pringles Dippers. These chips are engineered specifically for dipping, featuring a more robust shape designed to hold various toppings. The Pringles Dippers line will be available in original, french onion, and bacon cheddar flavors, hitting U.S. retailers in September.
