Costco's new warehouse in Camarillo, California, is on track to open its doors on October 30, 2026, marking the near completion of construction for the highly anticipated store.
The 160,000-square-foot facility, located at the western end of the Camarillo Town Center near the 101 freeway, will feature Costco's signature bulk groceries, a pharmacy, an optical department, a food court, and an electric vehicle charging station. The site also includes approximately 900 parking stalls.
Construction photos shared by local outlet Conejo Valley Guide show the exterior structure largely complete, with the opening date now two months away. The development's 32-pump gas station began operations on May 1.
The project has been in development since at least 2022, with initial plans targeting a 2024 opening. However, construction faced delays due to legal challenges from a local opposition group, Ventura County Citizens Against Mega Gas. The group argued that an extensive environmental review was necessary, but a California appeals court sided with the city earlier this year, clearing the path for construction to proceed.
City Manager Greg Ramirez stated that the Costco will provide shopping convenience and employment opportunities, calling it a "tremendous win for Camarillo." The city anticipates the store will significantly boost the local economy and become one of the city's top sales tax generators, encouraging residents to shop within Camarillo.
