Burton Snowboards has appointed Denny Bruce as its new chief executive officer, the company announced Tuesday. Bruce previously served as the snowboard maker's Mid-Atlantic Brand Manager from 2003 to 2005.

Bruce brings experience from leadership roles at Vans, Skullcandy, Traeger, and Dickies. He succeeds Donna Carpenter, who had been serving as interim CEO. Burton Snowboards was founded in 1977 by Jake Burton Carpenter, and remains privately owned.

"Denny doesn’t need to be taught what Burton means or why snowboarding matters," Donna Carpenter said in a statement.
