Aldi's Freya and Jules Riesling, priced at $9.99, has been awarded a Gold medal at the 2026 Sydney Royal Wine Show, scoring 95 out of 100 in the White Wine Riesling category. The wine, sourced from South Australia's Clare Valley, was also recognized with Elite Gold at the 2025 Canberra International Riesling Challenge and Gold at the 2025 Royal Queensland Wine Show and the 2025 Melbourne International Wine Competition.

An Aldi spokesperson stated that the award is a "fantastic endorsement of the quality our wine team continues to deliver at Aldi prices," emphasizing that the achievement for a wine available daily at such a low cost proves "customers don't need to spend more to enjoy exceptional wine."

In addition to this recognition, Aldi has launched its "Secret Cellar" program. This initiative will feature one ultra-premium wine each month, sold at a substantially reduced price. The first offering in this program is the Pirramimma Trademark Limited Edition Shiraz from McLaren Vale, valued at $70 but available at Aldi for $14.99, representing a 79% saving.

Aldi describes the Secret Cellar as a way to offer "premium quality, remarkable value and a little mystery," leveraging industry relationships to secure high-quality wines. A spokesperson explained that the program aims to "remove that barrier" of premium wines seeming inaccessible, encouraging shoppers to explore new and outstanding wines at affordable prices.
