Tarr's, a beloved ice cream shop in Bristol that has been a fixture for 106 years, has announced it will close its doors permanently. The Tarr family stated that rising costs have made it impossible to continue operations.

The family described the decision as "upsetting and difficult," expressing devastation at having to "pull the shutters down for the very last time." In a social media post that garnered thousands of responses from former and current customers, they extended a "heartfelt thank you."

Bradley Tarr, a current family member involved in the business, acknowledged the sadness but felt it was the right time to close. He noted that he had witnessed the business struggle more than previous generations of his family, including his grandfather, great aunt Vera, aunt Deana, his mother, and his sister, many of whom had worked at the shop for years. The family shared that they experienced "a cocktail of emotions," balancing pride in their long history with sadness over the closure.

The shop's closure marks the end of an era for the Bristol community, which has supported the family business for over a century.
