A 21-year-old man has died after being struck by a garbage truck in Sydney's west. Emergency services responded to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian in a restaurant carpark on Luxford Road in Mount Druitt shortly after 2 a.m. on Thursday.
The man was reportedly struck by the truck while it was collecting waste. He died at the scene and has not yet been formally identified. Police stated that the man had visited the rear of Mount Druitt Police Station twice earlier that evening and interacted with officers.
A critical investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident has been initiated. The driver of the garbage truck, a 31-year-old man, was uninjured and transported to a hospital for mandatory testing.
