Yorkshire Wildlife Park reopened on Friday, one week after a man was killed by a tiger within one of its enclosures. The attraction had been closed since the incident occurred on Saturday.

William Chapman, 24, died at the park near Doncaster. An inquest into his death, which opened on Thursday, revealed details of his history of mental illness, including a schizophrenia diagnosis. His family has raised concerns regarding his recent contact with mental health services.

The City of Doncaster Council, which licenses the park, is conducting a health and safety investigation and will share its findings with the coroner.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park confirmed its reopening after consultation with relevant authorities. In a previous statement, the park addressed concerns about Altai, the Amur tiger involved in the incident, stating that the animal is safe, unharmed, and will not be euthanized. The "Land of the Tiger" enclosure, where the incident took place in front of visitors and staff, has also reopened.

On Friday morning, hundreds of visitors, including families, were seen entering the park. Many visitors expressed their support for the park and its staff, with some stating they felt safe to visit the tiger enclosure. The park remains a popular attraction for families and wildlife enthusiasts.
