A 23-year-old woman died after being struck by a man who fell from a 12-story building in Nagoya, Japan. The incident occurred early Sunday morning in the Sakae district.
The woman was walking on a footpath when the 29-year-old man allegedly fell from an apartment building above and landed on her. A friend who was with the woman, and who was unharmed, called emergency services. Both the woman and the man were transported to a local hospital. The woman succumbed to her injuries several hours later due to hemorrhagic shock. The man survived the fall but remains in critical condition with severe head and chest injuries.
Police have cordoned off the area and are investigating the cause of the fall. A similar incident took place in Melbourne earlier this year, where a woman fell from a building and struck a man on William Street. In that case, the woman died at the scene, and the man was hospitalized with serious injuries.
