Police are investigating the death of an unknown woman whose body was found in a pond at Lowther Gardens in Lytham, Lancashire, on Monday morning. Officers were called to the scene around 9 a.m. following reports of a body in the water.

Initially, the death was treated as unexplained. However, Lancashire Police later confirmed that the incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the coroner. "Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this difficult time," a police spokesperson stated.

The park was cordoned off with police vehicles blocking entrances as an investigation was launched. Paramedics and firefighters also attended the scene. Staff members at the nearby Lowther Pavilion theatre were asked to remain inside the building during the initial police activity, though the venue reopened later in the day for scheduled performances.

Lowther Gardens, a popular area featuring a playground, padel courts, and a bowling green, is frequented by families, dog walkers, and older residents.

The identity of the woman has not yet been established. Police confirmed that a file would be passed to the coroner in due course.
