The wife of a sanctioned Ukrainian oligarch lost her legs in a makeshift bomb attack on Monday night in Monaco. The blast also injured her husband, Vadym Yermolaiev, and their 13-year-old son as they returned to their building.

This incident marks the first-ever terror attack of its kind in the wealthy city-state. Police are searching for a suspect seen on video leaving a parcel bomb at the entrance of the building. Monaco prosecutor Stephane Thibault indicated the suspect may have fled on foot into France.

Vadym Yermolaiev is a multi-millionaire residing in Monaco. He was sanctioned by Kyiv starting in December 2023, reportedly due to his alcohol business operations in Russian-occupied Crimea. He has reportedly renounced his Ukrainian citizenship and acquired Cypriot citizenship.
