At least five people were killed and 10 more injured in a Ukrainian drone strike on a warehouse near Moscow on Tuesday night, according to regional officials.
Local authorities reported that an industrial site in Novoselki, Chekhov, approximately 69 kilometers (43 miles) south of Moscow, was attacked. The strike triggered a fire at a warehouse, the Moscow region governor stated on Telegram. Seven of the injured were reported to be in moderate condition, with one in serious condition.
Ukrainian media indicated that the site targeted near Moscow is linked to Wildberries, an online retail company often referred to as the "Russian Amazon." While the company has not issued a public statement, it confirmed its facility in St. Petersburg was also hit during the overnight attacks. Wildberries warehouses in the Tver region were also reportedly targeted.
Kyiv claims that such depots are used to supply Russian military forces, an assertion that Moscow denies.
In retaliation, Russia launched strikes on Ukrainian territory. In the southern port city of Mykolaiv, an 89-year-old woman was killed, and two young girls were among seven people injured in a Russian attack overnight. Additional strikes in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi injured two people, and a food warehouse in Dnipro was set ablaze by Russian forces.
Russia's Ministry of Defense reported intercepting and destroying 320 drones during the night. The drone strike on the warehouse close to Moscow is part of a continuing pattern of Ukrainian attacks on Russian infrastructure.
