The United Kingdom is set to experience milder weather this week as the remnants of a former hurricane bring warmer air from the south. Following a cool weekend influenced by north-westerly winds, southerly winds are expected to bring temperatures between 14 and 19 degrees Celsius, a slight increase from the mid-October average of 12-16 C.
However, these weather fronts will also bring increased cloud cover and intermittent rain or drizzle across most of the country. Sunny spells are predicted to be limited, with the most favorable areas for sunshine including parts of north-east Scotland, east Wales, the West Midlands, and the north coast of Northern Ireland.
Overnight temperatures are anticipated to remain mild, dropping only a few degrees, but heavier rain is expected to develop during the night. This rain will then move across the UK on Tuesday morning. Following the rain, clearer conditions are forecast, with temperatures potentially reaching the low 20s in southern and eastern England, with highs of 23 C possible in East Anglia. Close to record-breaking warm nights are also a possibility this week.
