A 21-year-old man has been sentenced for a dangerous driving incident that resulted in the destruction of a kebab shop in Staffordshire, England. Daniel Mohammed was driving a black Ford on July 20, 2025, around 6 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle after overtaking another car around a curve.
Authorities stated that Mohammed was using his mobile phone at the time of the crash. His vehicle veered out of control and slammed into the front of Burslem’s Rose Fast Food, causing the building's facade to collapse. Chilling video footage captured the moment the car struck the building, demolishing the front of the vehicle before bouncing off and coming to rest in the intersection.
While there were no injuries reported inside the kebab shop, a female passenger in Mohammed's car sustained a broken collarbone and two fractures. Investigations also revealed that Mohammed was operating the vehicle without insurance, which is a criminal offense in the United Kingdom.
Mohammed pleaded guilty to charges of dangerous driving, driving without insurance, and using a mobile phone while driving. He was sentenced to two years and two months in prison and is disqualified from driving for nearly four years. He must also pass a remedial driving test.
During the sentencing, Judge Graeme Smith commented on the severity of the incident, noting it was "astonishing that both of you were not more seriously injured."
