UEFA has declared it has lost confidence in the current FIFA leadership, headed by Gianni Infantino, amid fallout from a recently abandoned controversial investment proposal. The European football governing body stated that Infantino had "failed to deliver" on promises made upon his election in 2016.

FIFA announced on Saturday that it would no longer proceed with plans to sell stakes in the organization's competitions to private investors. This decision followed significant opposition, including UEFA's earlier vote to boycott World Cups if the plans moved forward. Other football governing bodies also voiced their disapproval.

In a detailed statement, UEFA indicated that the lack of confidence extends beyond its own organization, suggesting that "many other members of the football family" share similar sentiments regarding the current FIFA leadership.
