Rescue operations are continuing in the English Channel after a vessel sent out a distress call, with two individuals still missing. The Maritime and Coastguard Agency confirmed that the search is active for a boat in distress.

A coastguard rescue helicopter, a fixed-wing plane, and two RNLI lifeboats launched a search of an area southwest of Eddystone Lighthouse, near Plymouth, on Saturday evening. Initial reports indicated five people were on board the vessel.

By Sunday morning, HM Coastguard in Falmouth reported that three of the five individuals had been accounted for. The specific nature of the emergency or details about the vessel involved have not been released. A significant number of civilian boats have joined the coastguard in the intensive search effort.
