A man and woman died Sunday evening after falling from rocks into the sea at Fistral Beach in Cornwall, according to witnesses and police. The sea was described as rough, with strong winds creating large waves that crashed against the rocks.

Witnesses reported that the victims, a man in his 60s and a woman in her 30s, may have been a father and daughter who were walking along the coast. One bystander, Sand Phoenix, stated that the man appeared to have gone into the water to rescue his daughter. He was pulled from the sea after being submerged for approximately seven minutes. Despite attempts to administer aid, including the use of an adrenaline pen and oxygen, the man showed no response. Paramedics continued CPR upon arrival, but both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.

Nine emergency vehicles and a helicopter were dispatched to Fistral Beach, a popular surfing spot known locally as the 'home of British surfing.' Police confirmed they were called by ambulance services around 9:45 p.m. following reports of two people recovered from the water. A cordon was established but has since been removed. The families of the deceased have been informed, and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

This incident occurred on a day of multiple water-related fatalities and emergencies across the UK. In West Sussex, a man died after getting into difficulties at West Wittering Beach. Emergency services responded around 2:30 p.m. to reports of two adults in the water. Both were pulled from the sea, but one was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Authorities stated the two men were not believed to have known each other. The West Wittering Beach administration confirmed the death of a 55-year-old man and thanked lifeguards and emergency services for their efforts.

Additionally, in Margate, Kent, a man and two children were pulled from the sea on Saturday afternoon after reportedly struggling in the water. A large multi-agency response, including an air ambulance and a coastguard helicopter, was launched. The three individuals were airlifted to a hospital and remain in a stable condition.

The Met Office recorded a high of 20.2C in Newquay on Sunday, while West Wittering reached 26.5C.
