Five individuals, including two children, have been rescued after spending three months adrift in the Pacific Ocean. The group was found off Fanning Island, part of Kiribati, nearly 3,400 miles from their intended destination.

The five survivors were among nine people who departed from the island of Murilo in Micronesia on July 30 for what was planned as a one-hour tour. A powerful storm swept their small vessel off course, leaving them stranded at sea.

The US Coast Guard initiated a search, covering 25,000 nautical miles, but called off its efforts on August 9. Local residents eventually spotted the survivors, leading to their rescue.

Officials stated that the rescued individuals received medical attention and are currently under the care of a local pastor. Authorities are working with Micronesian and Kiribati officials to arrange for their transport home. Information regarding the four other individuals who were on the boat has not been updated, and their companions continue to be prayed for.
