Mexican TV presenter Inés Gómez Mont, who famously proposed to NFL star Tom Brady during a Super Bowl media day, has been arrested in Miami by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The arrest is related to an alleged $160 million fraud and money laundering scheme in Mexico.
Gómez Mont and her husband, lawyer Víctor Manuel Álvarez Puga, are accused of using shell companies and false invoices to launder money from Mexico's Interior Ministry. Investigators allege they are part of a network led by Álvarez Puga, known as the “King of the Invoice Mills,” which includes connections to politicians, government officials, lawyers, business people, and celebrities.
The couple reportedly fled Mexico in 2021 after arrest warrants were issued. Álvarez Puga was previously detained by ICE in Miami in September 2025 for immigration violations but was released on bond.
Gómez Mont was photographed in handcuffs and is currently in U.S. immigration custody, awaiting any potential extradition process to Mexico. The 43-year-old presenter has previously denied any wrongdoing, stating in a September 2021 Instagram post that the accusations were "absolutely false" and that she had "never stolen a weight."
She gained notoriety in 2008 when she proposed to Tom Brady, then quarterback for the New England Patriots, while wearing a wedding dress and veil during Super Bowl XLII media day. Brady declined her proposal at the time.
