Thomas Markle Sr., the father of Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, was arrested Friday in Florida by federal authorities on charges related to child sexual abuse material, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California.

Markle's arrest follows a report last month indicating he was under investigation by authorities in the Philippines for allegedly possessing child sex abuse material. These claims were reportedly made by his son, Thomas Markle Jr., who is Meghan's half-brother.

Thomas Markle Sr. relocated to Florida after residing in the Philippines for many years.
