Conor Kennedy, the eldest son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Brazilian pop star Giulia Be have set a U.S. wedding for June 2026 and said they intend to invite both former U.S. President Donald Trump and Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, a pairing that could present a high-profile meeting of political rivals.

Giulia Be, 26, who announced the change after postponing a November ceremony in São Paulo to accommodate the release of a new album, said in a Brazilian media interview that the couple and Kennedy’s father will each supply guest lists. "If Trump’s on that list, then Lula is also on the list," she said. Conor Kennedy is 31; the couple live in Los Angeles and publicly announced their engagement last year on Instagram.

The prospect of both Trump and Lula attending the same event comes as Brazil is embroiled in political turbulence following a Supreme Court conviction this week of former President Jair Bolsonaro on charges related to an effort to overturn the 2022 election. Bolsonaro, a former army captain and a political rival of Lula, was sentenced to more than 27 years in prison. Trump said he was "very unhappy" with the conviction.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been reported as likely to invite Trump; Giulia Be has publicly supported Lula’s 2022 campaign, according to Brazilian media. The couple’s decision to name both men as potential invitees raises questions about how organizers will manage security and diplomatic sensitivities should both accept.

Conor Kennedy is the son of Kennedy and the late Mary Richardson Kennedy, who died in 2012. Following his mother’s death, Conor briefly dated singer Taylor Swift in 2012; media accounts at the time reported that Swift purchased a house in the Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port during their summer romance. Giulia Be, whose full name is Giulia Bourguignon Marinho, captioned one of the couple’s engagement posts "Easiest 'Yes' of all time."

Like Conor, Giulia comes from a family with political ties. Her father, Paulo Marinho, 73, is an entrepreneur and former state senator in Rio de Janeiro. Brazilian reports say Marinho once supported Bolsonaro before backing Lula in 2022 and that he was part of an international social scene in the 1970s and 1980s.

It is not yet known which members of the extended Kennedy family will attend. The family has recently been publicly divided over Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s role in government; his sister Kerry Kennedy and his nephew Joe Kennedy III, a former congressman, have called for him to resign as secretary of Health and Human Services. "Robert Kennedy Jr. is a threat to the health and wellbeing of every American," Joe Kennedy III wrote on social media earlier this month.

The couple postponed their initial plans for a November São Paulo wedding so Giulia Be could finish her album and to move the ceremony to the United States in June 2026. Invitations have not been made public, and it remains unclear whether Trump, Lula or other prominent figures will accept if invited. The timeline leaves months for organizers, security officials and guests to consider how a gathering that mixes celebrity, political dynasties and international leaders would be managed.
