Transgender Ex-Policewoman Confesses to Rape in Germany, Faces Prison

A former transgender policewoman has confessed to raping a 15-year-old girl in a McDonald's restroom in Germany. Maja S., 55, made the confession before the Traunstein Regional Court, appearing in handcuffs and leg irons.

She faces a likely sentence of three and a half years in prison in exchange for her confession, according to Judge Andreas Bartschmid. Maja S. also confessed to possessing around 2,000 files of child and animal pornography, as well as a Kalashnikov rifle.

Prosecutors allege that Maja S. uploaded pornographic material for pedophiles online, including depictions of child abuse, starting in 2024. Raids at her police station and home uncovered further child and bestiality pornography and the rifle.

Maja S. was suspended from police duties and fined €19,000 (£16,000). While investigations were ongoing, she invited the 15-year-old daughter of an acquaintance on a motorcycle trip, which led to the alleged rape in a McDonald's toilet. The prosecutor stated that Maja S., described as physically stronger and taller, forced her way into the cubicle after the victim entered, locked the door, and committed the assault.

The incident came to light when Maja S.'s fiancée, Stefanie Z., discovered a sexually explicit message on her partner's phone. Stefanie Z. confronted the teenager, who recounted being kissed and touched inappropriately by Maja S. in the toilet. Stefanie Z. subsequently reported the incident to the Federal Police.

The indictment details that the victim was unable to react and was left trembling after the assault. Maja S. allegedly assaulted the girl on another occasion after a swimming pool visit, with the girl waking up unclothed in Maja S.'s bed with no memory of what happened.

Maja S. confessed to most charges, including the rape, behind closed doors at the start of the trial to spare the victim from testifying. She has been ordered to pay the victim €5,000.

Initially held in the women's section of Bamberg prison, Maja S. has spent the last five months in the men's section of Stadelheim prison. Her lawyer, Peter Dürr, stated that her placement in the men's facility presents a "serious burden in her daily life," citing instances of being whistled at during exercise and undergoing physical examinations by male officers.

The trial is ongoing.
