Two tourists were injured when a sightseeing helicopter crash-landed in China's Qinghai Province on Tuesday. The incident occurred at the Chaka Sky No. 1 Scenic Area near a salt lake during a low-altitude demonstration flight.
The yellow Harbin XLI gyroplane reportedly spun out of control before plunging to the ground. It came to rest near the lake bank, striking two people on its descent. One of the individuals suffered serious head injuries.
Officials stated that the "self-rotating rotorcraft crash-landed, injuring two people on the ground." The victims were promptly transported for medical treatment, and their vital signs are currently stable. The helicopter, which has a capacity for three people, has been impounded as part of an ongoing investigation into the incident.
The tourist attraction has been closed following the crash. No other injuries were reported. Authorities are investigating the cause, with initial indications suggesting that turbulence from another aircraft may have been a contributing factor.
